MEMBERSHIP

Background to membership

As of the 1st October 2007 the importation, manufacture and sale of realistic imitation firearms is banned in the UK. The sale of imitation firearms is also banned to those under 18 years of age. Both are under the provisions of the 'Violent crime reduction act', or VCRA. The potential of having all the replicas we use banned from sale would have been devastating to the airsoft industry. Some members of the airsoft community fought for an exemption for airsoft and (above all expectations of those used to dealing with the government on similar matters) successfully negotiated a specific defense for those partaking of airsoft skirmishing.

To avail yourself of the specific defense, you must be a member of a skirmish site the carries public liability insurance. Xsite airsoft fulfill all the criteria, so in line with government guidance we are offering site membership.

What membership does for you

Site membership has several benefits, as well as the ability to continue to purchase RIF's. Consumables at the site will be cheaper for members, members will have priority when booking games over non members and we have negotiated (the first of many) a discount with Airsoft Armory of 5% across the board and 10% on orders over £200 for our card carrying members.

We are running 2 forms of membership. Full and junior. Both benefit from the site and retailer discounts, but only Full members will be able to purchase RIF's. Junior membership still proves a young player can avail themselves of the defense and although they cannot purchase RIF's, they can still manufacture one. It is therefore a benefit for juniors to join up.

Criteria

In line with Home Office guidance we are only offering membership to genuine skirmishers. You must have played at the site a minimum of 3 times over a period of not less than 2 months. We also make a qualitative judgment of the applicant as to their suitability to be an Xsite member. If we view an individual as presently unsuitable, we will place them on a probationary period of an appropriate length then re-evaluate their suitability. Membership is not guaranteed or a given right, even if a player has attended the required number of skirmishes.

Cost

Xsite membership is £15 a year

UKARA

The 'United Kingdom Airsoft Retailers Association' has put in place a data base to enable their members easier verification of genuine players, mainly for distance, or internet sales. as a site we did have several issues about the data base, but they have all thankfully been resolved and Xsite are now members of the scheme.

we will be holding a stock of UKARA forms, any player wishing to go onto the data base for distance sales, see a marshal at any game or email the site.
